Happy Birthday Hubs

Yesterday was Hubs’ birthday. He turned the big 3-6. We went to dinner at Outback and then to see Super 8. Both were fun (dinner might have been fun because Little Miss hated my dinner and encouraged me to eat an entire hot fudge sundae…which I did.) It doesn’t feel like Hubs and I have gone on too many dates since we moved. There is always stuff to be done and since growing the baby is nothing short of exhausting I usually veto any plans that keep us out past 9…yeah, I’m a barrel of fun!

Sometimes it feels strange that Hubs is 36. 36 seems like “my dad’s age.” Actually, 35 feels like my dad’s age–not OUR age. Yes, yes, I know that my dad has 20 years on Hubs but somehow 35 is a grown up’s age. And we can’t be grown ups…can we?

I suppose Sunday night will tell the ACTUAL age of Hubs. Is he really 36 or still just a crazy kid? How will this weekend determine Hubs’ actual age you may be asking; well this morning he got up at 330am and headed to Vegas for a bachelor party. And from what I can tell (from his Tweets), they haven’t stopped moving all day AND I’m sure they will go out tonight and maybe tomorrow too. Now, this sounds like the perfect weekend for the younger Jillian and Hubs, 3 days in Vegas? Yes, please! Buuuut, Hubs is out of practice. We go to bed at 9/10 (perhaps Hubs stays up watching TV a little later than I but he’s still snuggled in next me) and we usually wake up around 730/8. I’m curious to see how Hubs hangs with his single friends in the city that never sleeps….

As far as me, this weekend will be very exciting. I will probably hit the hay a little early tonight since I haven’t really been sleeping that great this week. And hopefully, sleep in a little tomorrow morning too. I might get up and go to Fusion and then paint our banister. Maybe I will run around with Mom a little and then on Sunday (Father’s Day) I have every intention of lounging around on the boat, soaking up some sun, (well, I might only soak up a little sun since pregnancy/sunburns are an uncomfortable combo,) have some Father’s Day dinner and perhaps land on the couch with Mags for a movie when I get home…see I’m super fun :)

Anyway, I will keep everyone updated on Hubs Vegas Vacation!

Taylor Swift – Speak Now World Tour 2011

So, for my very first “Mother’s Day” Hubs surprised me with Taylor Swift tickets.  Of course she is supposed to be in KC like a week after the wee one is due so Hubs decided make the trek up to Des Moines for her Memorial Day weekend.  It was crazy fun, for me.  And Hubs only rolled his eyes a couple times prior to the show and then he admitted to actually enjoying it during/after!  So that was a total win.  (I suppose it’s like when he tries telling me how “fun” a KC Comets game is going to be and I’m all, “oh, boy.  That sounds super fun (in my most sarcastic voice) and then I actually have a GREAT time.  I think that’s what Taylor Swift was for him….)

He got us GREAT seats.  We were right by the stage and could see her up close the entire time!  I will say we were definitely on the upper end of the age range—but I’ve always loved anything geared towards 15 year old girls so I was perfectly happy!

Here are some pics:

Welcome 2011

2011 has come in with a bang!  Hubs and I headed over to STL to visit a couple friends AND see Crystal Method…again.  We saw them in Chicago last year but we really didn’t get to experience it the way we wanted so we did a Crystal Method Take 2.

It was nice seeing friends we hadn’t seen in a while and we even met some super cool new friends that actually turned out to be friends with the friends we were meeting….the world is so small.

After we got back we slept in on Sunday and had a pretty lazy day watching football.  I’m pretty darn excited for my Chiefs to play in the playoffs I just hope that yesterday’s showing is not and indication of how they plan on playing for their first play-off game.

After football we went house shopping (we’ve decided against building for a myriad of reasons the primary being we like to go places and do stuff and being married to our mortgage doesn’t really sound like a recipe for a happy life.)  I think we found a house and we’re going to put a bid on it today.  So, hopefully that will all workout…let the negotiations begin!

Table Rock Lake 2010 – Take 2

This weekend Hubs and I went to Table Rock Lake with Mom, Dad, Juls, and Bret.  It was two days of good food, good wakeboarding, and family fun.  We had a great time with only one slight altercation between sisters but hey, who doesn’t fight with their sister; have you seen Keeping Up with Kardashians?

Hubs and I didn’t make it down til Friday night but apparently mom tried to ski and dad tubed—two activities that happen once in a blue moon. Way to go Mom and Dad!  I really wish I could’ve seen those two events!

But without a doubt the highlight of the weekend had to be the pristine wakeboarding conditions.  Smooth water with very little traffic made for some exciting passes; the downside?  It was unbearably hot.  So what’s the Wiggans family solution for unbearable heat AND a bunch of newbie wakeboarders?  Drop the non-wakeboarders in the lake with one floating chair, noodle, and a spare life jacket out in a quiet cove and say, “we’ll be back!”  Then protocol keeps the boat “nearby” (nearby as in, the same cove with occasional passes by aforementioned floaters to ensure everyone is still afloat with their thirsts quenched.)  This allows for the best of both worlds: the ability to stay cool and the ability to make this amazing video of our mad wakeboarding skillz (yeah, I just said skillz with a z):

Vegas Vacation 2010

Last weekend Hubs and I headed to Vegas!  We had such a fun time.  We saw ATB at Rain, spent an entire day at the pool drinking red bull vodkas waiting for DJ Scotty Boy, and followed that with a quick trip to Vanity and Ghost Bar.  We also got to log a little time with the worlds awesomest little sister and her hubby.  Then we capped the weekend off with a spa/pool day.  It was the perfect weekend getaway!  I always enjoy weekends away with Hubs.

♦ This weekend we are headed back to Table Rock Lake with my parents and Juls/Bret; a nice relaxing day on the boat with the family is the perfect antidote to an eventful Vegas weekend.

♦ The next weekend is a whole another story.  We will be home.  It seems like months (or at least 5 weeks) since we’ve had a weekend at home; doing laundry, sleeping in, laying on the couch so I’m really looking forward to spending a little time with the puppies and getting to the grocery store. We also have the Jackson County Triathlon; I’m totally looking forward to that race simply because it’s at Longview Lake and it’s basically where I’ve done all my biking this season.   Hopefully, I will do well.

America’s Birthday Weekend

Over the weekend we went to Hermann, MO and enjoyed the wineries.  We did 4 different tastings and Hubs got a little silly.  IT was so much fun!  Our bed and breakfast was super cute and the lady who owned it was so sweet and prepared a super delicious breakfast!  Oh, and let’s not forget the massages.  We met tons of cool people and ate lots of good food.  Hermann is the perfect getaway for a quick vacation.  We left Friday and came back Sunday morning…leaving America’s Birthday for our families.

We started at Hubs’ parent’s house.  We ate Brats, beans, and delicious rhubarb dessert.  Then we headed to my parents for roast, potatoes, and gravy!  So much good food!  After dinner, we had a Wiggans family Yahtzee tournament and the Yahtzees were definitely flowing…we had a great time sitting on the deck, playing with the new puppy, and watching fireworks.  (I didn’t really enjoy the fireworks but my family did and I think they got a couple good laughs watching me jump every five minutes.)

The weeknd was full of everything Hubs and I love.  Traveling, family, and food….last 4 days have been really fun but a little rough on Operation 20lbs.  So, I’m kind of excited to get back into the regular weekday schedule that starts with a killer workout at Fusion Fitness.  The Fusion workouts kick my butt every morning and while I’ve only been going for a few weeks I can already tell a difference and I’m getting very addicted.  It’s amazing how a little exercise coupled with smaller portions can make such a difference.  Unfortunately, I think Hubs might be picking up my slack since everytime we eat I put whatever I don’t want on his plate…and he eats it.  I’m afraid Hubs is gonna need a few extra workouts just to compensate for the extra bites he’s eating off my plate.  The good news:  I’m no longer eating Hubs bite for bite….yay!
